The Difference In Hypnosis and Meditation
Both mediation and hypnosis create a feeling of calm and relaxation.
Meditation is a focus on one image, word, or breath to calm the mind while in an alpha brainwave state.
Hypnosis is a guided journey while in a theta brainwave state, enriched with images and feelings, ultimately fulfilling a goal (changing a habit, quelling a fear, enhancing performance).
Your "Suggestibility" type
Formed in childhood, your suggestibility is how you receive and process language. Not everyone has the same suggestibility. It is an important part of successful change through hypnosis. The three suggestibilities are: the Literal, the Inferential, and the Somnambulist. At the beginning of our session through a series of questions, I find out which one of these you are, and to what degree.
The Conscious Mind
This is your present, here-and-now state of mind. It is your logical, analytical, reasoning, decision-making mind that takes in approximately 60,000 bits of information a day. It is important that the conscious and subconscious mind are in agreement in order to have success in hypnosis. So, before going into hypnosis, we have a conversation about what you would like to change, and what new habit, behavior or emotion will replace the old.
The Subconscious Mind
It is the powerhouse of the mind that stores all of our associations, memories, automatic behavior, and imagination. The subconscious is always listening to our words and paying attention to our thoughts, and delivering on what it hears. It is here that hypnosis is so useful, as we tap into this part of the mind to create new pathways for new behaviors and habits.
Testimonials:
“As I was new to hypnosis, I had a lot of misconceptions, fears, qualms, and vulnerabilities. I hit the motherland with Kathy Rayle. She is a wonderful person as well as an excellent teacher and “facilitator”. Extremely professional and knowledgeable, as well as warm, friendly and funny. All of my qualms sort of melted away. She let me know what to expect, what I should do and what she would do. I became very comfortable and under her direction slipped into hypnosis without even realizing it. But, I did realize it! Like meditation, but more. Afterward, I felt full of energy, yet quietly ‘whole'”.

“Kathy helped our son break the downward negative emotional spiral he was trapped in and reset to a more positive mindset, helping him get a fresh start at school and at home.”
– L.M., Wilmington, NC
“I smoked for 30 years and after just one session with Kathy, I am a non-smoker. The session itself was pleasant and calming. The results are nothing short of miraculous. I am a believer in Kathy’s method and would encourage anyone who wants to quit smoking, or make any other positive change in the life to set up an appointment immediately.”
– B.P., Wilmington, NC
“I’ve explored a lot of avenues when it comes to healing, so hypnosis felt like a natural step. I could not be happier that Kathy was able to guide me through it. She was truly able to change my negative thought patterns in the most subtle and significant way. She is a gem of a human with the kindest energy.”
– S.D., Los Angeles, CA
“I started seeing Kathy during a challenging time in my life. I was experiencing anxiety, stress, and overwhelming fear from all the changes that were occurring. After our very first session, my perspective shifted in a very palpable way, and she helped me incorporate ease, grace and flow back into my daily life. Kathy’s compassion, professionalism, and ability blend together to create an environment that is safe, nurturing and positive. I leave each session feeling hopeful for my future, and encouraged that life is and can be joyful again. I am so grateful for her. She is a true gift!”

The Steps:
1. Our Initial Phone Conversation:
We will discuss the presenting issue, or what it is you would like to improve in your life. Then, we will schedule your office visit. If there is a possible underlying medical condition, I will require a doctor’s, psychologist’s or therapist’s referral.
2. The Office Appointment:
First, we will discuss the presenting issue in more detail. I will explain the process of hypnosis and why it works so that you have a full understanding. The second part of the visit will be hypnosis. It is not a trance state. You will be fully aware and never out of control.
3. After The Session:
After our appointment, I will send you an audio file of a portion of the hypnosis session for you to re-listen. I also will teach you self-hypnosis. It is an easy process and highly recommended for faster and lasting change.
